CSF brgys, 1st to get Garbage trucks from Capitol

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – In line with the projects of the provincial government of Pampanga for solid waste management, Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda led the turn-over of 35 mini dump trucks to all barangays in the city.

The city, it was learned, is the 1st-ever recipient of barangay solid waste dump trucks.

Pineda stressed to the barangay officials the importance of waste segregation, saying it will always start at the grassroots level. The discipline in maintaining our environment clean is always in our hands, she said.

She also lauded the intensive work of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, led by Vice Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda and Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources (PG-ENRO) Chief Arthur Punzalan for efforts in strengthening programs for solid waste management.

With this, Pineda assured that the provincial government will always give help and support for a healthier, cleaner and greener community.

In behalf of Vice Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda, 3rd District Board Member Rosve Henson commended the hard work of the barangay officials in utilizing waste management.

He branded this as ‘shared responsibility’ which the barangay, local, provincial and national government should always perform.

The Board Member then asked Department of Natural Resources (DENR) Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Regional Director Lormelyn Claudio to raise the province’s concern of having a landfill facility.

He also suggested amendments to Republic Act 9003, that the DENR assigns where the landfill facility would be situated.

According to Henson, garbage from cities and provinces will be regulated.

Moreover, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago thanked the provincial government, even as he reminded the barangay officials to lead their constituents in waste management.

Also present in the awarding were Department Heads led by Provincial Administrator Atty. Andres Pangilinan Jr., Board Members Fritzie David-Dizon and Atty. Jun Canlas, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Regional Director PENRO Pampanga III Laudemir Salac, DENR Executive Director Region III Paquito Moreno Jr., and DILG Provincial Director Myrvi Fabia.
