CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Provincial Police Office (PPO) under the leadership of Police Senior Superintendent Oscar Albayalde strengthens its Oplan Sita to maintain peace and order before and after the barangay election.
Oplan Sita is a regular activity of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to fight criminality and apprehend criminals through vigorous operation, police visibility and continuous set up of check points in strategic places.
Pssupt. Albalyalde said this election period the Oplan Sita will target motorcycle-riding in tandem criminals and arrest of the illegal and unregistered firearms holders.
“Police check-points are on a 24-hour duty stationed on strategic places to monitor the movement of suspicious people and motorists,” said Albayalde.
He disclosed that additional reinforcement will be designated on 62 barangays considered as election area of immediate concern.
The provincial director said barangay election is more alarming compare to past mid-term election because it is more personal and almost everyone in the community is involve.
He also emphasized the order given to police personnel to be non-partisan.
“All police affiliated to any candidate were relieved from their area of duty. They were assigned to other barangays. They are also prohibited from accepting any favor even foods from any candidates,” Albayalde stated.
Albayalde further said they already have standing orders from the Commission on Election and Department of Interior and Local Government of the extent of their responsibility especially on the day of the election.
