Capitol welcomes new Archbishop

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Hundreds of Capitol employees and public officials headed by Governor Lilia Nanay Pineda cordially welcomed His Eminence Archbishop Florentino Galang Lavarias, in lieu of retired Archbishop Paciano B. Aniceto, at the Capitol grounds yesterday.
As this was observed, the new Archbishop Florentino Galang Lavarias was greeted with the waving of white and yellow flags symbolizing purity and peace by the people of capitol.
Governor Lilia Pineda in her speech during the turn over ceremony said, “Archbishop, we ask you to pray for us, all the public servants especially the public officials of capitol and all those who serve the Kapampangans, please pray for us so we could serve the Kapampangans more”.
Meanwhile, Archbishop in return, asked the support and prayers of all the public officials and employees present in the event, to pray for him and to pray altogether for the continuous development and of giving more importance to the province of Pampanga.
His Eminence Most Reverend Florentino Galang Lavarias 57, is the fourth Archbishop of the Archdiocese of San Fernando. He come from Sta. Ines, Mabalacat and was ordained priest in September 26, 1985. In 2004, he was installed Bishop of Iba, Zambales by St. John Paul II.
Handing over the key was demonstrated by Board Member Rosve Henson in accordance with Resolution 3495 installing the new archbishop of the Metropolitan Cathedral, led by Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis Pineda.
Also present were the honorable members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the Congressional Representatives of Pampanga, city and municipal mayors and members of their respective sanggunians, barangay captains and capitol workers.
