CITY OF SAN FERNANDO- The provincial government vowed assistance to the different associations of Kapampangan overseas workers’ family and former workers abroad to start their own livelihood program.

In a meeting with Board Member Anthony Torres, chairman of the committee on trade and industry together with the provincial action center for OFWs concerns (PACOC) the officials of each OFWs’ groups presented their livelihood proposals.

Present during the dialogue were Sta. Monica OFW Family Circle Association, Ing Bayung Arayat Familiang OFW, Candaba OFW Organization, Misanmentung Pamilyang OFW ning Balen Mexico, Munang Takbang dareng OFW king balen Sasmuan, Guagua OFW Association, Sta. Ana and Floridablanca OFW groups.

Among the proposed livelihood programs are putting up a mini-grocery store, furniture making using bamboo, crafts made of waterlily, corn husk making, and selling of seafood products.

Board Member Torres lauded the initiative of the OFW families to help their kin abroad to earn a living for their family.

He said the provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Lilia Pineda will give financial and technical assistance to them.

“We will study and approved their livelihood proposals, and then the provincial government will give assistance so they can start their operation,” said Torres.

Eliza Muñoz, chief of PACOC said they have been organizing the OFW families and former OFWs in the province to help them with their concerns including livelihood.

“Our office helped them formed their groups each town. It is now easy for the provincial government to locate the Kapampangan OFWs and their families for possible assistance.
