CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – In a bid to give job opportunity to the graduates of Provincial Manpower Training Center (PMTC) particularly the trainees on hallow block making, the provincial government is bent to tap the trained hallow block makers for the production of 95,000 pieces of hallow blocks for the infrastructure projects in Floridablanca National Agricultural School (FNAS).
Francis Maslog, head of the PMTC said that the equipment and materials needed for the production will be provided by the provincial government. “They will be paid one peso per piece of hallow block,” he said.
It was learned that based on the computation of PMTC, the province can save on this scheme as they could also give employment opportunities to the trained Kapampangans.
“First, the sand as major component of hollow block is free. We have the equipment and laborers. The total cost of the block per piece is P5.50 as compared to the P7.00 commercial,” he said.
He explained that this is only a portion of the over-all plan of the Pineda administration to empower and employ the skilled workers as they were asked to form an association.
If formed, the provincial government will encourage private contractors of government projects to procure hollow blocks from them.
Gov. Lilia Pineda said in a livelihood meeting with the department heads that the provincial government should not only provide skills for the Kapampangans, it should also provide employment opportunities.
“The provincial government will be the first client of our skills training graduates. We will show them that we are confident that they could produce quality products,” she said.
