CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government headed by Governor Lilia G. Pineda spent a total of P24,580,425.03 on various programs dedicated for the Kapampangan elderlies in the previous year, as per the report provided by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
In said report, the Capitol awarded cash incentives worth P5,700,000 to 57 centenarians – elderlies aged 100 years and above – each receiving P100,000.
According to PSWD Officer Elizabeth Estiller-Baybayan, the provincial government also provides monthly social pension to bedridden senior citizens worth P1,000 per month. A total of P7,724,000 was expended in 2015, benefitting 1,547 recipients.
Burial assistance for indigent elderlies is also extended through their office amounting to P9,028,425 for 1,010 beneficiaries in the previous year alone.
Governor Pineda provides financial and food assistance through the PSWDO as well amounting to P262,500 and P1,215,140.03, respectively.
Apart from said benefits, the Capitol regularly holds worthwhile activities for senior citizens such as the Senior Citizen Summit and Senior Citizen Congress attended by 1,200 sector leaders. The PSWDO allocated a total of P460,000 for both events.
A total of P189,560 was also allotted for various meetings attended by 1,740 senior citizens and their family members in 2015.
PSWDO Baybayan shared, the Kapampangan elderlies can expect better programs and more benefits from the provincial government this year.
“We are working closely with our beloved governor, as well as the Provincial Board led by Vice Governor Dennis Pineda, and the Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. Jay Rivera for the inception of programs that will have a better impact on the lives of Kapampangan senior citizens,” she added.
