Capitol organizes Nanay Community Workers

Gov. Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda together with PDRRM Officer Angie Blanco lead the oathtaking of the 1,213 nanay community workers from Lubao, Floridablanca and Sasmuan.

LUBAO, Pampanga — Some 1,213 women volunteers from Lubao, Sasmuan and Floridablanca were organized into Nanay Community Workers (NCWs) held at Pineda Gymnasium, this town.

This women organization, a brainchild of Vice Gov. Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda will assist and support the barangay officials in guiding the youth and will teach them on the proper solid waste management and environmental cleanup.

These women volunteers took their oath and administered by Governor Lilia Pineda to participate in the growth and development of their villages and perform their assigned duties and responsibilities.

The governor said they were tasked to monitor and report the activities of drug suspect surrenderees who turned ‘reformists’

According to Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) Officer Angie Blanco, the NCWs will also work as partners of the barangay council in disseminating information regarding the various programs and services of the provincial government.

Blanco said the NCWs will also be involved in the conduct of barangay profiling, and identification of the sick.

The PDRRMO said the Provincial Board will craft certain ordinances and programs that will benefit the volunteers.

Gov Pineda for her part, reminded the NCWs to ensure that their health and their families will not be neglected while performing their duties.

“Before you assist your constituents you should ensure your health first. Have your check-up and make sure that you are healthy,” the governor said.

During the briefing Provincial Health Officer Dr. Jose Antonio Rivera reminded the community workers that being aware of the services of the provincial governmment especially the health programs wil help them achieve their duties.

“You are the first contact of your constituents. We need your help in reaching out your communities,” Rivera said.

Dr. Fida Donna Guevarra, an obstetrician-gynecologist, and Dr. Arthur Go, oncologist were also present during the briefing to discuss the health risks of women.

Gov. Pineda said the community workers from the three towns are the first batch of the 8,656 women volunteers in the whole province.
