Capitol opens ‘Salilungan’ – Pampanga’s first ‘Pasalubong Center’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government opened yesterday ‘Salilungan’ – first one-stop-shop Pasalubong Center in Pampanga.

Gov. Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda together with mayors, board members, representatives from the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (PamCham), Department of Tourism Region 3 Director Ronnie Tiotuico and Department of Trade and Industry Region 3 Director Judith Angeles led the blessing and inauguration of Salilungan.

Gov Pineda said the provincial government is committed in showcasing its local products to tourists visiting Pampanga through one-stop-shop Pasalubong Center.

‘Yung mga bumibisita ng Pampanga hinahanap yung mga gawang kapampangan. Kung ituturo mo, ang layo ng mga pupuntahan nila. Kailangan isang lugar na lang ang pupuntahan lalo na ngayon maraming pumupunta sa mga old churches natin. So, ito pwede na silang dumaan sa pasalubong center bago umuwi ng Manila,” the governor said.

Located along Jose Abad Santos Avenue (formerly City Central Transport Terminal) Salilungan offers a variety of native delicacies, organic root crops, indigenous handicrafts, and home decorations, among others.

Gov Pineda said the provincial government in partnership with the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry is also eyeing the construction of the same facility inside the Clark Freeport.

“Umpisa pa lang ito, marami pa tayong gagawin na ganitong sama-samang Pampanga products. Mayroon kaming plano kasama ‘yung Pamcham na mag-put up sa airport ng CDC o kaya sa loob ng CDC para ‘yung lahat na mga ginagawang convention doon sa mga hotel sa Clark ay may mapupuntahan at mabibilhan ng pasalubong,” said the governor.

Board member Anthony Joseph Torres, chairman of the Committee on Trade and Industry of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan said Salilungan is being operated by the provincial government.

“This project was the initiative of Gov Pineda. It will not also be possible without the help of

Vice-Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda and our fellow board members for supporting the project and providing the necessary legislation to make the project a reality, and other NGOs,” Torres said.

Currently, there are 20 stalls that are being operated by the different participating small and medium enterprises and other companies in the said Kapampangan shed.

According to Director Angeles Salilungan is the biggest ‘pasalubong center’ in Central Luzon.

Also present during the event were Department of Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Myrvi Fabia, capitol department heads led by Provincial Administrator Atty. Andres Pangilinan Jr and other local officials.
