CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Governor Lilia Nanay Pineda joined the women employees of the Provincial Capitol as they participated in the Zumba exercise held at the Capitol grounds on Monday in the observation of National Women’s Month Celebration.

Board members Ferdinand Labung, Anthony Joseph Torres, Ricardo Yabut , Nestor Tolentino and Arthur Salalila expressed their full support and admiration to women empowerment who play an integral part in the families and societies as well as their equal rights in political and economic opportunities.

While Board member Cherry Manalo stated that it is a time where the women are at their topmost precedence in gender equality portraying  justice and dignity in the society.

The lady governor mentioned that she has instructed and urged the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to fast track the resolution that would give free medical (pap’s smear, mammography etc.) and laboratory check-ups for women at the time of women’s month celebration.

As the organizer of the event, PNO Ms. Rustica Butiu said, “Ang mga kababaihan ngayon ang nasa ibabaw” where she also hosted the program.

All participants wore purple colored shirts with the imprinted theme “Juana, Desisyon Mo ay Mahalaga Sa Kinabukasan ng Bawat Isa, Ikaw Na!, Ang Mga Kababaihan, Yaman ng Ating Bayan Ngayong Buwan Ating Pagtuunan, Kanilang Kalakasan at Kalusugan.”

The purple color signifies wisdom, power, devotion, nobility, independence and femininity which suitably describe the qualities of a woman.

In line with the celebration and according to the Global Gender Gap 2014 report of the world Economic Forum (WEF), the Philippines stays on top of the gender equality game in Asia, being the only nation in Asia and the Pacific that has secured the gender gap in both education and health.
