Capitol, JBLRMM initiate bloodletting program

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Provincial Government through its Provincial Health Office (PHO) and in partnership with the Jose B. Lingad Regional Memorial Hospital (JBLRMM) conducted a bloodletting activity with a theme, “Daya Cu, Saup Cu” at the Provincial Health Office Building, Capitol Compound here.

A team composed of doctors, nurses and medical technologists from the JBLRMM came to administer the bloodletting program and were supported by PHO.

Maria Katrina G. Zapanta, provincial blood coordinator, said that the target donors were personnel from Pampanga Police Office (PPO) and Capitol employees who are capable to donate blood to help Cabalens in their own little way to save life by donating blood.

“Bago matapos ang taon ay nagkaroon tayo ng bloodletting activity upang may matipong dugo na maaaring magamit for emergency ngayong holiday season,” Zapanta said.

She said people are so busy attending festivities during holiday season especially the months of December, January and February, and couldn’t have a chance likewise to appear in such activity.

Out of the 50 targeted donors, 42 were able to register. Blood extracted will be deposited at the JBLRMM blood bank for future use.

It can be noted that PHO conducted a bloodletting activity participated in by officials and staff of the eleven provincial and district hospitals last March 7 this year at DPMMH where they extracted at least 28 blood units out of 36 registered donors.
