Capitol gives P2.4 M, food packs to 4,799 BHWs, BNS

City of San Fernando— Governor Lilia G. Pineda distributed atleast P2,399,500 and food packs to 3,691 barangay health workers (BHWs) and barangay nutrition scholar (BNS) in two separate venues yesterday during their year-end assessment report and assembly.

The food pack received by each BHW and BNS contained one whole chicken, one pack of jumbo hotdog, grocery pack composed of 5 kilos of rice, four sardines, four corned beef, four noodles and one bottle of soy sauce.

Of the number of BHWs and BNS, some 3,691 from 1st, 3rd and 4thDistricts attended the event at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center while 1,108 from the 2nd district met at the Lubao Gym for the year end assessment reporting.

Dra. Maria Imelda M. Labrador-Ignacio, public health officer said that Governor Pineda thanked the BHWs and BNS for their relentless efforts in helping the Cabalens in addressing the health needs of the local folks in various villages of the province.

She said the governor made mention that the Philhealth coverage became bigger and higher due to the help of the BHWs and BNS under the continuous health program of the provincial government.

She also said the BHWs and BNS play a big role in the implementation of the Preventive Health Management System being put up in various villages of Pampanga.

Governor Pineda also cited the medical assistance provided by Jose B. Lingad Regional Memorial Hospital and the Center for Health Development in Region 3 headed by Director Leonita Gorgolon which led to the success of the governor’ health program.
