LUBAO, Pampanga—Some 635 daycare workers from the 505 villages of the province received their 8-month salary plus a surprise add-on by Governor Lilia Pineda last Tuesday.
The Lubao Gym roared with laughter and cheers by the Daycare Workers as they danced along with Governor Pineda after she announced that she requested the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to give an additional P500 to their monthly salary of P1000.
“I am giving you additional P500 perks and I will ask the provincial board to approve my request as soon as possible because I believe you have done your best and you will continue to work hard for the fulfillment of our commitment of giving quality service to the youth who will become leaders of tomorrow,” Pineda told the daycare workers.
Pineda appealed to the day care workers to reconsider their plans if there is any to run for public office for the Provincial Government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development will have limits on extending their support and help on their needs.
After this, the governor had a small discussion with the Board Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and right there and then, the addition to the daycare workers’ salary was approved and will be effective this month of December.
She also mentioned that she envisions a partnership between the Department of Health and DSWD.
She explained that most projects of DOH concerns children. With that, the DSWD through the help of the barangay health workers will assist lowering the case of illnesses, especially tuberculosis, of the children in the communities in the province.
She also commended the hard work of the barangay daycare workers and urged them to do better in their line of work.
DSWD Regional Director Adelina Apostol also praised the diligence of the Pampanga Daycare workers.
She lauded Pineda and the Province of Pampanga for their dedication in being the agency’s number 1 partner in Social Services Projects.
