CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — To make learning more convenient for the school children of Barangay San Juan Baño, Arayat and those in nearby villages, the Provincial Capitol has approved the donation of a parcel of lot for the site of a new school building.

Gov. Lilia “Nanay” G. Pineda and Barangay Captain Jesus G. Delos Santos on Monday signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the lot donation in a ceremony at the Governors Office Capitol Compound.

The governor said the lot donation was approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan through Resolution No. 4651, s of 2017, granting a request for assistance in the amount of P488, 240 to Barangay San Juan Baño for the purchase of a parcel of land owned by Leticia Vda. De Yam, with title No. 2124-R-P, to build a new Barangay High School.

Barangay Captain Delos Santos earlier requested for funding support from the governor to buy a parcel of lot, stating the need for a new school building for its learners who are mostly studying in a school in nearby Barangay Cacutud. His measure was favorably endorsed by Arayat mayor Emmanuel M Alejandrino.

Delos Santos said many of the kids are poor and could not afford to pay for their tricycle ride in going to school. On top of this, he said the Justino Sevilla Barangay High School in Barangay Cacutud is already overcrowded.

Putting up a new school building in their barangay will unburden the students of their travel expenses and provide ease in attending their classes, according to the village captain.

Delos Santos added that the next step for the barangay council is to create a resolution for the construction of the school building.

Pampanga Schools Division Superintendent Leonardo Zapanta, meanwhile, suggested that the purchased lot should be named after the Department of Education (DepEd) so that all transactions could be easily disseminated. ##
