Capitol distributes P545K to tornado victims in Candaba

Candaba, Pampanga — Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda distributed on Friday an amount of P545,000 to 98 families whose houses were totally and partially damage due to a tornado that hit at least five barangays in this town June 25, this year.

The victims-turned-beneficiaries of Capitol grants composed of 400 family members came from the villages of Baranca, Lourdes, Mapanique, Pangclara and Salapungan.

According to Amador Baylon, municipal disaster risk reduction and management officer-in-charge said strong wind and heavy downpours struck the said barangays that resulted to total and partial destruction of said number of houses.

Immediately after the occurrence of tornado, Mayor Danilo Baylon dispatched the MDRRMO to extend P2, 000 and ten kilos of rice to each of the family victims as immediate relief.

Elizabeth E. Baybayan, provincial social welfare department officer disclosed that families with partially damage houses received P5, 000 each with a total amount of P435, 000. However, families with totally damage houses received P10, 000 each that cost the provincial government the amount of P110, 000.

Tornadoes usually occur in our country during rainy season especially during South West Monsoon.
