Capitol distributes P3.28-M to cancer, dialysis patients

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government of Pampanga distributed yesterday P3,284,000 worth of financial assistance and goody packs to some 3,284 Cabalen undergoing chemotherapy and dialysis during the Cancer and Dialysis Patient’s Day held at Lubao Gymnasium and Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center respectively.

Gov. Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda along with Board Members Cherry Manalo, Salvador Dimson Jr, Fritzie David-Dizon and Rosve Henson, Provincial Administrator Atty. Andres Pangilinan Jr and Capitol department heads led the distribution to beneficiaries from the four districts of the province.

According to Nars sa Nayon Chief Ruby San Miguel, 2,686 of the beneficiaries are patients undergoing dialysis while the remaining 598 patients are undergoing chemotherapy.

San Miguel said the provincial government will give additional 4 sessions of dialysis to chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients.

“Aside from the 90 sessions of dialysis from Philhealth, the provincial government is also providing additional four sessions to CKD patients. We’re also giving medicines such as epoietin to patients whose dialysis center is not accredited by the provincial government,” San Miguel said.

The Nars sa Nayon chief also disclosed that cancer patients are also receiving P10,000 to P15,000 worth of assistance quarterly for their chemotherapy.

Provincial Social Worker Elizabeth Baybayan said the distribution of assistance to the patients is a regular program of the provincial government to augment the resources of the patients.
