Capitol distributes first batch of computers to 312 barangays

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Governor Lilia Nanay Pineda distributed on Monday some 312 brand new computer sets with printers to the nineteen towns which hold a larger population in the province.

“These are just the first batch, rest assured that all barangays will have their own share of computers for their database,” the governor stressed.

Governor Pineda was joined by Board members, Ricardo Yabut, Cherry Manalo with ABC President and ex-officio Atty. Gerome N. Tubig in the distribution.

The barangay beneficiaries include; Arayat, Apalit, Bacolor, Candaba, Floridablanca, Guagua, Lubao, Macabebe, Magalang, Masantol, Mexico, Minalin, Porac, San Luis, Sasmuan, Sta. Ana, Sta. Rita San Simon and Sto. Tomas.

“I also asked for the barangay secretaries because I heard that the NSO (National Statistics Office) is having difficulty collecting data, interviewing people from all over the country. Some of their people get sick and being hounded by dogs”, the governor said.

“I just thought, something is wrong and I suggest that, should the barangay officials or the secretaries get these data since they know their neighborhood. The important thing here is, we get accurate information, the exact population of each barangay”, the governor added.

According to Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) head Angelina Blanco, “the computers will be used for putting up a barangay database containing a complete profile of every barangay such as land area, population, sources of livelihood, household members, infrastructure of major and barangay roads and their present condition, public and private establishments, major waterways that need de-silting, health, educational and agricultural sector and an up-to-date barangay personnel record (kagawad, secretary, treasurer, health workers, tanod, purok leaders, daycare workers including volunteers) and several others.

ABC President and ex-officio Atty. Gerome N. Tubig had expressed his appreciation to the governor for her continuous support to the barangays.

He said that “the governor has fulfilled her promise to give out computers for the barangays which will be used for the issuance of certificates and gathering of data and records that will help solve illegal drug problems in the province.”

Barangay chiefs, secretaries and treasurers of the nineteen town beneficiaries gathered at the Capitol compound during the distribution.
