STA. RITA, Pampanga – Governor Lilia “Nanay” G. Pineda disclosed Thursday her plans of allotting supplementary budget to 19 municipalities and 2 cities of the province for the purchase of medicine supplies in their respective rural health units and health centers.
Pineda shared the good news during the convention of more than 2000 indigent residents at the multipurpose covered court here. The attendees are recipients of sponsored PhilHealth memberships from the national government through the Department of Health.
Pineda also advised the residents to immediately report any incidence wherein their needed medicines are not available at their RHUs.
“Hearing the lines, ‘There’s not enough medicine or we have no medicines in stock’ at your RHU or health center is old news. I want to make sure all needed medicines are always available,” the governor added.
In a recent health summit attended by all barangay health workers of the province, Governor Pineda already revealed her plan to implement a consignment scheme for all RHUs and health centers throughout the province similar to the 11 provincial and district hospitals.
Meanwhile, representatives from PhilHealth explained the benefits members could avail from their respective RHUs. Included are annual clinical breast examination for women, digital rectal examination for men, prenatal and infant checkup, and regular physical examination for adults, among others.
“We are truly grateful for the benefits given to us here today. I feel more secured for me and my family. This really shows that disadvantaged people like me can rely on our government, from the national up to the local level,” said Niño Cruz, one of the PhilHealth recipients.
