Capitol allots P130M for classrooms

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government allocated some P130 million for the construction of additional classrooms, comfort rooms and other infrastructure projects for public elementary and high schools, this year.
Based on the work plan of the provincial engineering office (PEO), 212 classrooms are set for construction, repair and improvement; 8 covered courts and stage will be built and 15 units of elevated boys and girls comfort rooms will be put-up benefitting 77 schools.
Engr. Olimpio “ Noli” Pangan, assistant provincial engineer disclosed that initially, the provincial government has allotted P81.5 million for the construction of classroom buildings and P5.7 million for the comfort rooms. However, Gov. Lilia Pineda added another P42.5 – million as supplemental budget to finish all the school construction projects.
“This shows that Gov. Pineda is serious when she said that education will be one of the priorities of her second term of administration,” Pangan said.
Pangan is optimistic that they will be able to construct these infrastructure projects the soonest time possible since some of the classrooms were completed before election, more than half were on going and others are already for bidding.
“The school buildings constructed by the province were elevated due to perennial flooding in the area. The classrooms are fully-furnished, complete with comfort rooms, ceiling fans, blackboards and arm chairs,” he said.
It was learned that under the Pineda administration, the provincial government has constructed 422 classrooms, 41 units of comfort room and 17 multipurpose covered areas with school stage and distributed 13,700 pieces of armchairs.
