Capitol Allocates P82M for Public Schools

Governor Lilia G. Pineda disclosed that some P82 million have been earmarked from the provincial government’s school board funds for the construction of school buildings and classrooms and provision of other needed facilities in various public elementary and secondary schools in Pampanga.

The governor made this announcement during the forum with some 500 principals and heads of public elementary and secondary schools in the province at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center as she required them to submit their respective list of requirements for classroom, chairs, teachers and comfort rooms.

Of the P82 million funds, P42 million is allotted for the building of classrooms while P40 million is being used for the on-going repair and rehabilitation of other school facilities.

Governor Pineda also said that about P360,000.00 have been allotted for the construction of comfort rooms for boys and girls in each of the public schools.  This will be given top priority among the various projects lined-up along with the provision of potable water supply.

Even more so, the governor announced the release of 7,000 elementary school desks, of which 5,000 units will be distributed to  Grades 4,5, and 6 and the remaining 2,000 units for Grades 1,2, and 3.

Assistant Provincial Engineer Olimpio Pangan said that the province has recently completed the construction of a seven classroom building at the Caduang Tete National High School in Macabebe, Pampanga with a total project cost of P1,043,976.

Pangan added that a two classroom building with comfort room worth P1,690,000 is currently being constructed at the Caduang Tete Elementary School, also in Macabebe town.

DepEd Schools Division Assistant Superintendent Nicolas Capulong expressed his gratitude to Governor Pineda for her commitment to ensure the immediate provision of the requirements of our public schools such as classrooms, teachers, comfort rooms, hand washing facilities and chairs.

To date, Pampanga has a total of 467 public elementary and 104 high schools with 223,000 and 98,000 student population respectively.

The governor also enjoined the school heads to take care of the well-being of their pupils and even extra care of their own health as they could not serve their clients if they themselves are not well.

Provincial Board Members Monina Laus, Trina Dizon, Fritzie David-Dizon, Ric Yabut, Nestor Tolentino, Tars Halili, Cris Garbo joined the forum and discussed with their respective constituents education-related  issues and concerns. (Pampanga PIO)
