Capitol achieves 94% or 581,683 RPUs in tax mapping

CLARKFIELD, Pamp. — The provincial government has already accomplished 94 percent in tax mapping or an equivalent of 581,683 real property units discovered in Pampanga, provincial and municipal assessors reported to Governor Lilia “Nanay” G. Pineda yesterday during a conference held at Capitol Staff House here.

The governor has expressed satisfaction with the result, however, she instructed Engr. Romeo Dizon, provincial assessor to complete the tax mapping operation as soon as possible.

It can be recalled that this tax mapping operation started early in 2010 was funded by the provincial government with an amount of P50-million.

According to the provincial assessor, the 470 barangays of the province had 452,620 real property units (RPU) documented before the tax mapping operations.

Consequently, the operations had recorded additional 3,495 parcels of land; 125,111 buildings; and 457 units of machinery.

“If we include the newly discovered RPUs, we have already reached 135% of our target for this operation,” Engr. Dizon disclosed.

Meanwhile, the governor urged the municipalities to permanently hire 4 Information Technology (IT) graduates to serve as tax mappers and encoders for the data collected during the tax mapping.

“Our encoders are one of the keys to the success of these operations. They should be hired permanently to ensure efficiency and familiarity with the nature of their work,” the governor instructed.

Furthermore, Pineda is pleased with the positive report as the income generated from real property taxes are also used to fund the various projects launched by the capitol.

The governor reiterated that these funds should be converted into services for the Kapampangans. (Angelique DC. Tuazon, PIO Pampanga)
