BM Yabut Urges Scholars to Finish College Education

Fourth District Board Member Ric Yabut strongly urged the 50 scholars of the provincial government in his district to ensure that they complete their college education as he encouraged them to never give up hope in pursuing their dreams.

This developed as the board member recently distributed the P2,500.00 financial assistance to each of the 50 deserving college students at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan session hall of the provincial capitol.

“Do your best, remain hopeful, continue to be inspired and let not poverty hinder you from reaching your goals,” Yabut advised the scholars who came with their parents for the awarding of financial assistance from the provincial government.

He laments though that children of poor families in his district fail to complete even their elementary education due to poverty.

The provincial lawmaker shared with the scholars his own family’s struggles with poverty as his parents strove to send him and his five other siblings to school.

“I experienced working as a farm hand, as a laborer, and as a janitor to help my parents pay for my college education expenses.”

His hard work paid off as he was able to realize even more than what he dreamt of.  The same was true for his siblings who are now accomplished professionals in their own rights.

Yabut said that he looks forward to seeing his 50 scholars as public servants like him 20 years from now.

He admitted that the P2,500 given to the scholars for one semester is a small amount but still it would help them with their expenses.

Yabut described the financial assistance extended by the Capitol under Governor Lilia G. Pineda’s administration as a good deed to the marginalized but deserving students. (Erlinda T. Yutuc, Pampanga PIO)
