CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Second District Board Member Arthur Salalila urged Kapampangan students to help in the improvement of the quality of education in the province.
The appeal was made during the distribution of educational assistance to the 406 college students from the six towns of the district- Porac, Sta. Rita, Guagua, Sasmuan, Lubao and Floridablanca.
Salalila who is also the chairman of the committee on education of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan said the effort of the provincial government is unconditional their only request is for them to study hard and to finish their studies.
“We challenged all the beneficiaries of the scholarship program of the province to be a role model to other youth. Study hard and be responsible students. Finish your studies with flying colors,” Salalila told.
The board member explained that the scholarship program of the capitol was formulated to assist poor families to send their children to college.
Under the Education Financial Assistance Program, the provincial government gives 20, 000 annually to all those who graduated valedictorian to first honorable mention from public high schools, 10, 000 for second honorable mention down to tent placer and the Alternative Learyning System (ALS) graduate while poor but deserving students not in the honor list receive P5,000.
This is in addition to the other education programs of the province that includes establishment of satellite campuses, construction of classrooms, covered courts, comfort rooms and Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).
