LUBAO – The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-3 (BFAR-3) awarded P3-million to Municipality of Lubao for the construction of a community fish landing center (CFLC) to help the fisherfolks of the province in their livelihood.
BFAR-3 Regional Director Wilfredo Cruz led the awarding of the construction budget during the celebration of the Farmers and Fisherfolks Month held in Lubao Bamboo Hub.
The director handed the check to Lubao Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab, former Second District Congressman Mikey Arroyo who represented his mother, former president and now Second District Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Office head Engineer Arthur Punzalan.
Cruz said in his speech that the CFLC is the answer of the government to diminish market channels that make it hard for the fishermen to earn more.
“Pagdating kasi sa mga channel na yan, binabarat sila. That is why we are putting up CFLCs where they will be managed by the fishermen themselves. Diretso nang bibili yung mga customer sa kanila,” he said.
He added that the BFAR-3 will also be giving freezers and 5 stainless fish stalls as initial equipment for the CFLC.
Mayor Mylyn thanked the national government for funding the proposed CFLC to be station in Barangay Baruya. She also expressed her gratitude for the support of the government not only in Lubao but also in the Province of Pampanga.
