CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — More than 30,000 indigent families in the province experienced the true spirit of Christmas when they received gifts from the private firms thru the initiative of the provincial government led by Governor Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda.
It can be noted that these private companies who requested for anonymity had voluntarily donated goods and other kinds of donations to be true to their commitment in helping the provincial government in reaching out to the poorest of the poor this time of the year.
In this city alone, less than 10,000 individuals from Northville 14, barangays Calulut, San Pedro Cutud, Sto. Nino and Pandaras benefited from the gift giving activity.
Governor Lilia G. Pineda led in the gift giving activity to the indigent families who are mostly informal settlers in this city particularly in Northville 14 after they had been displaced from various areas due to the north Rail and other projects being undertaken by the government.
In addition, some 500 upland farmers in Arayat town and 10,000 fisherfolk from the coastal areas of the province benefited from the goodies distributed by the same officials.
Earlier, the governor also led in giving gifts to 1,200 Aetas in barangays Nabuclod, Camachile, Mawacat, and San Ramon in Floridablanca town and to 1,500 persons in barangays Planas, Villa Maria, Camias, and Sapang Uwak in Porac town.
The governor said that these gift-giving activities were done “upang maipadama sa ating mga cabalen, lalo na ang mga kapos sa buhay, ang diwa ng pagbibigayan ngayong Pasko”.
This is done in addition to the year round assistance being given to these groups, the board members emphasized.
After all, the governor added, “ngayon higit kailanman kailangang maiparamdam sa kanila na hindi sila nakakalimutan at puedeng maging masagana ang Pasko para sa kanila”.
Some of the goodies given to the recipients include foodstuff and clothes donated by various private institutions and which they coursed through the provincial government for proper disposition.
The governor was joined by board members Monina Laus, Trina Dizon and Raul Macalino, and officials of the Philippine National Police PSSupt. Edgardo Tinio, PSupt. Gregorio Catapang, and PSupt. Bernard Perez. (Pampanga PIO)
