2,500 farmers lauded in Pampanga Day

Governor Lilia G. Pineda commended some 2,500 farmers during the celebration of the 441st anniversary celebration of Pampanga Day held at the Gymnasium of the municipality of Lubao.

As this developed, the governor vowed to focus her program on agricultural development in 2013. With this, she said, the provincial government will help in the improvement and modernization of the farming sector in the province.

It can be recalled that the provincial government has released some P14-million to assist the marginalized farmers for their seedlings.

Pineda said if next year, she will be re-elected as governor, she will focus on farming.

Provincial Agriculturist Crispin Guinto disclosed that there are 38,000 to 42,000 farmers in the province whose major production is rice and corn.

Guinto said the farmers’ assembly is the governor’s way of giving collective recognition to farmers, especially the old ones.
