164 SAF recruits join bloodletting activity

Some 163 Special Action Force (SAF) recruits join the bloodletting activity held at Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Training Center in Magalang.

MAGALANG – In line with the World Blood Donor Day Celebration, some 163 Special Action Force (SAF) recruits recently joined the bloodletting activity held at Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Training Center 3, here.

The bloodletting activity was led by Provincial Health Office (PHO) Chief Dr. Maria Imelda M. Labrador-Ignacio in cooperation with Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital (JBLMRH) Team led by Dra. Jazmin Adrias and the local government of Magalang.

According to PHO Blood Services Program Coordinator Maria Katrina G. Zapata, a total of 126 blood bags were collected.

Meanwhile, the Pampanga Government provided food and refreshments for the blood donors and staff, giving away freebies and t-shirts for successfully bled donors.

The collected blood bags are to be distributed to the provincial and district t hospitals in the province to help indigent patients mostly infected with dengue, suffering in cancer and those who undergo operation.

The World Blood Donor Day is celebrated every 14th of June around the world to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products, and to thank blood donors for their voluntary, life-saving gifts of blood.
