CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – At least 1,427 Kapampangans joined recently in the SM Nationwide Earthquake Drill (NSED) held simultaneously at SM San Fernando downtown and SM Pampanga.
According to Public Relations Officer Rain Cervantes, NSED is a quarterly activity led by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) that seeks to educate public on disaster preparedness against earthquakes and to showcase government capability on disaster response.
Cervantes said that SM malls in Pampanga and San Fernando downtown held simulations on earthquake and evacuation to promote and provide education awareness to its front liners and partners, who also underwent regular seminars on safety and evacuation.
The 1,427 participants included customers, tenants, agencies and employees.
The activity was closely coordinated with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), which was represented by Rowel Tablante.
Senior Inspector Richard Rosario of Mexico and Telabastagan Chief Admin / Chief Compact 4 Wemerra Jean Saldia were also present during the earthquake simulation to conduct safety measures.
Meanwhile, SM Savemore Market in Apalit is scheduled to a hold seminar for its tenants on the proper dock, cover and hold position to ensure safety when there is earthquake and evacuation.
