1,390 fisherfolks distressed by Oriental Mindoro oil spill receive aid from Pampanga

POLA, Oriental Mindoro – A total of 1,390 fisherfolks from this town received food and financial assistance from the Provincial Government of Pampanga on Friday, April 28.

Each of the said beneficiaries received P2,000 cash and two food packs, each of which contained five kilograms of rice, five cans of sardines, and five cans of corned beef.

In addition, Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda and his family gave P3,000 cash to each of the said number of fisherfolks.

Meanwhile, Pola Mayor Jennifer Cruz expressed her gratitude for the help extended by the Province of Pampanga to their town.

“We are very much thankful kasi napansin kami, especially ng Pampangueño through the efforts of Governor Pineda. From the bottom of our hearts, on behalf of the Poleños, thank you so much, kasi talagang dumadaan kami ngayon sa hirap at pagod hindi namin alam until when ang problemang ito,” said Cruz.

As a token of gratitude for their invaluable support to the oil spill-affected coastal residents of Pola, Oriental Mindoro, Cruz personally handed over the certificates of appreciation to Governor Pineda and Angelina Blanco, chief of the Pampanga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. -Jasmine Jaso/Pampanga PIO
