A total of 1,271 job seekers from various municipalities of Pampanga including Tarlac have qualified for overseas employment in Taiwan, Japan and United Arab Emirates.
This developed as the Philippine Overseas and Employment Administration (POEA) and the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) jointly conducted a three-day special recruitment activity last September 8 to 10 at the Benigno Aquino Memorial Hall for interested individuals in Pampanga and Tarlac.
PESO Provincial Head Luningning Vergara said that some 1,700 job applicants from the two provinces registered on-line in the unified system for recruitment of workers under the government to government scheme.
Vergara said that of the total number of registrants, 1,271 or 74 percent qualified for the job openings and are now waiting notification for further evaluation and interview by the prospective overseas employers.
Gauging from the number of interested job applicants, Vergara said that the sponsoring entities have agreed to extend the acceptance of applications from qualified individuals until the end of October.
She explained that under the government to government scheme, qualified workers will not be required to pay the placement fee which usually ranges from P120,000 to P150,000 per individual.
However, each qualified worker will shoulder the P5,000 processing fee and medical expenses upon completion of the entire evaluation and employment procedures.
Vergara said that the recruitment activity was done through the initiative of the members and officers of the Regional PESO Managers Federation who recently went on a three-day study tour and benchmarking mission to Taiwan Employment Service Center early this month.
Some 21 PESO managers from various provinces of Region III including the municipal officers of Mexico, Apalit, Lubao, Angeles City and provincial PESO joined the mission which immediately saw the fruition of their efforts through this recent recruitment activity.
The job openings include technical assistants, factory workers, dormitory supervisor/manager in Taiwan-based companies; nurses, caregivers in Japan; and emergency medical technicians-basic in United Arab Emirates.
“We have another special recruitment activity lined-up on September 16 from eight o’clock in the morning until five o’clock in the afternoon at the Benigno Aquino Memorial Hall,” said Jonathan Lintag, PESO focal person for youth affairs.
He added that the activity, in close coordination with the International Skill Development, Inc., will be accepting applications for merchandisers and shelf-fillers in Dubai and United Arab Emirates and various job openings for the Muscat International Airport project such as assemblers; concrete pump, ice plant, mobile crane manlift, scissor lift, tower crane and skid loader operators; dispatcher; auto electric, mechanic and mobile crane foremen; grade checkers; transmixer, tractor and heavy duty drivers; heavy machine and truck mechanics; service man; auto electricians; tireman; turners; and welders.
Governor Lilia G. Pineda’s administration is serious in its commitment to provide ample employment and livelihood opportunities to its constituents, Vergara said, as she acknowledged the support of the various departments of the provincial government, the Provincial Action Center for OFW Concerns (PACOC) and the Provincial Cooperative for Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCEDO), among others, in various employment endeavors.
