CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A total of 118 beneficiaries from the municipality of Sasmuan are about to receive their loan assistance from the provincial government under the Negosyo king Panyulung Program (NPP) to start their own small business this month.
Mamerto Gatus, head of the provincial cooperative and entrepreneurial development office (PCEDO) said these NPP recipients are the first batch of Kapampangans to benefit in this livelihood program of Gov. Lilia Pineda in her second term.
These are addition to the existing 6,145 beneficiaries of NPP under the first term of the Pineda administration.
“Gov. Pineda ordered our office to continuously look for cabalens who want to start their own small livelihood. The provincial government will loan them capital as assistance. For this batch the provincial government has released P590,000 loan,” Gatus said.
He said beneficiaries are formed into association for systematic collection of payment. In Sasmuan, PCEDO created 4 groups for the recipients these are; St. Peter NPP Association, Kapitbisig NPP Association, Ugnayan NPP Association and Batang NPP Association.
“All of them are accountable for the payment of each member. This grouping will instill discipline to everyone. It is also a step in teaching them on how to form a cooperative in the near future.
NPP is the livelihood program of the capitol that was realized under the Pineda Administration. This program extends loan assistance to hard-working and striving Kapampangans who wants to have their own source of income. The provincial government lends P5, 000 to P10, 000 no interest, no collateral and payable ing 6 six months to one year.
Since the assumption to office of Gov. Pineda the province had released P45,395,000.00 for the NPP beneficiaries and the collection has reached to P41,249,964.
“This shows that we have erased the dole-out mentality to our cabalen. They pay their debt on time. As a reward all good payers can renew their loan after the full payment,” stressed Gatus.
