City of San Fernando— Some 957 bedridden elderlies from two congressional districts were given P4.5 million social pension by the provincial government in a gathering of senior citizens at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center on Monday.
The distribution was led by Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Board Members Paul Balingit, Rosve Henson and PDRRMO Angelina Blanco.
The representatives of the elderly-beneficiaries who came from 3rd and 4th districts received P3, 000 each in the form of check and two boxes of 800 grams prime powdered milk that cost P1, 744.93.
Governor Pineda thanked the representatives and care-givers for their continuing care for the elderlies as she assured them of the Capitol’s support.
Elizabeth Baybayan, provincial social welfare development officer announced the other benefits of the senior citizens like the mandatory Philhealth coverage for are for 60 years old and above, stipulated in Republic Act 10645 and Republic Act 9994 known as the Expanded Senior Citizen Act of 2010 providing the elderlies 20% discount on medicine and 12% VAT exemption plus burial assistance.
To lessen the burden of the elderly representatives of going to Land Bank, the governor invited Ferdinand Cruz, manager of Land Bank Pampanga for the outright encashment of the check inside the BZGCC.
