City of San Fernando – Telecommunication giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) is bent to build a call center with direct access to 911 emergency hotline for citizen complaints and emergencies throughout Pampanga.

PLDT SME Nation representative Angela Camacho revealed yesterday the proposal during a courtesy visit with Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda held at the Governor’s Office.

Camacho said the “911” number will serve as emergency hotline for citizens in the province, where Kapampangans can call in to report any kind of urgent concerns such as crime, disaster or medical assistance.

“One of the good things is, if we do this in Pampanga, there is no capital expenditure required. It operates as a service. Meaning to say, MRC-based. It goes to operational expenditures,” Camacho added.

She added the plan to put up an emergency response team is aimed at making sure the speedy response on complaints, crises and disasters within the province.

Governor Pineda is positive to consider the said proposal and talks are underway as to what else will be needed.
