Nanay Guv presents ‘anti-drugs squad’ to President Duterte

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda presented the Nanay Community Volunteers to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in his visit to province during the Convergence of Nanay Volunteers as Community Drugwatch at Clark Parade Grounds on Thursday afternoon.

The Nanay Community Volunteers, consists of more than 9,000 mother-volunteers from different villages, are the provincial government’s arm versus illegal drugs. The volunteers were organized by Nanay Gov, Vice-Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, the provincial board and the village officials.

They serve as the watchdogs of 505 barangays in the province reporting illegal drug suspects to authorities, and of help to the development of Pampanga through community welfare duties.

They also seek those in need of medical care in every household and deliver them to nearby health centers, district hospitals, and provincial hospitals.

In her speech, Nanay Gov said that they are one of the strongest army against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the province.

“They immediately report illegal drug suspects to barangay officials and the police. They also do counseling to the youth to help them focus on their studies, jobs, and to their families,” she said.

She also assured that the province is always one with the national government in its strive for a united, progressive, and peaceful country.

The president was also welcomed by Deputy Speaker of the House Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Vice-Governor Pineda, the provincial board, municipal and city mayors, Clark Development Council President Alex Cauguiran, former congressman Mikey Arroyo, and various officials from Clark Development Council.
