CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda with Commission on Audit (COA) Chairperson Michael Aguinaldo led the inauguration and ribbon-cutting of the new Provincial Satellite and Auditing Office (PSAO) situated at the Capitol Compound here Monday morning.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Vice-Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, provincial board and government heads, City of San Fernando Mayor Edwin “Edsa” Santiago and COA-3 Director Corazon Gomez.
The said building’s construction only lasted for 10 months, since its groundbreaking last February 29 of the same year. The PSAO project is estimated to cost at around P30 million.
In her speech, Governor Pineda stressed the importance of having an office conducive for work. She also said that she doesn’t expect a payback from COA.
“I don’t expect a payback for giving you space here, but I want, in my last term, for all the elected officials from the barangay level to municipal and provincial to perfect and polish their expenditures under the right guidelines. I want that to be my legacy also,” she said.
She also said that she wants the officials to be properly educated for accountability and responsibility in handling public funds so to avoid any issues and charges.
Chairperson Aguinaldo thanked the governor for the new PSAO building. He also said that this will greatly help in their job guarding wasteful expenditure.
“COA on its own will not help the country achieve progress. We’re just one part of the many parts that are necessary to be working for the country to move forward,” he added.
