PAMPANGA SCAVENGERS RECEIVE P2M WORTH OF INCENTIVES

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO- At least 1,500 scavengers all over Pampanga on Wednesday received for the 4thtime this year financial, food assistance and school supplies worth P2,034,160 from the provincial government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Vice-Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda led the distribution of financial assistance, food packs containing five kilos of rice, four canned sardines, four canned corned beef and four packets of noodles and a bottle of soy sauce. He was accompanied by PSWDO Chief Elizabeth Baybayan, PESO Chief Luningning Vergara and PDRRMO Chief Angie Blanco.

The distribution of food packs and financial assistance, held a Bren Z. Guiaon was realized through the convergence of DSWD and PSWD who gave P530,460 and P557,700 worth of food assistance respectively.

In addition, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the provincial government granted a total of P750, 000 financial assistance to 1,500 scavengers or P500 each.

These, aside from the provision of school bags complete with school supplies worth P196,000 to intended beneficiaries particularly to children of scavengers.

In behalf of his fellow scavengers, Apolinario Marquez, expressed his gratitude to the vice-governor and the board members for the financial and food assistance they received.

“We couldn’t ask for more from the governor because she continually support and help us (scavengers). And now, together with the vice-governor more programs were granted to help the unfortunate life us. Thank you very much vice-governor,” he added.

Also present on the event were Board Members Cherry Manalo and Benjamin Jocson of the first district, Paul Balingit and Nelson Calara of the fourth district, and Anthony Torres of second district, Executive Assistant Edna Vitug, and PCL-Pampanga Chapter President Fritzie David Dizon.
