City of San Fernando— At least 45 deaf are set to receive hearing aid on October this year after they were evaluated and examined yesterday at the Provincial Capitol here.
The beneficiaries with hearing impaired problems, aged 17 to 60 years old for adult and 5 to 16 years old for children are from the four congressional districts of the province.
Ruby San Miguel, Nars Sa Nayon coordinator of the Provincial health Office said the provision of hearing aid is in line with the celebration of the Global Coalition in Manila, initiated by Starkey Hearing Foundation from the United States of America (USA) in cooperation with the Provincial Government.
“The recipients will be given hearing aid depending on the findings of the doctor who inserted a mould inside their ears to determine the gravity of the destruction,” San Miguel said.
She also said that last year 475 recipients with hearing impaired were diagnosed and they received hearing aid sometime in November last year.
The Phase 3 program will be held on August 23 at Benigno Hall, Capitol Compound, this city for the repair of the hearing aid with damage and those that run out of batteries.
At present, there are 500 stand-by patients, gathered by the “Nars sa Nayon” from different villages that await for their turn to avail such benefit.
