3 RHB yield arms to Nanay Gov

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Three members of the Rebolusyonaryong Hukbong Bayan (RHB) yielded their arms and surrendered to Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda yesterday through the initiative of Sta. Ana Mayor Norberto “Ka Ross” Gamboa, a former rebel commander.

The three rebels were comrades of the first 44 rebel-returnees also assisted by Mayor Gamboa on July 18.

They also surrendered 3 firearms believed to be used in their rebellion.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono Jr., Pampanga police provincial director recognized Mayor Gamboa’s efforts in helping the peace and order program of the police and the provincial government.

Col. Filemon P. Santos of the 703rd Infantry Brigade expressed happiness in yesterday’s program because, according to him, “it is a step closer in achieving peace in Pampanga”.

“I am very happy because of the cooperation of Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines and the local government,” he said.

He also noted that there are no armed encounters between the rebels and the AFP since the start of Governor Pineda’s administration.

Governor Pineda stressed that they will be under the Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP) wherein they will be given assistance as they go back to the mainstream of society.
