10,237 ‘reformists’ vow to stop selling and using drugs

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Some 10,237 drug suspects who voluntarily surrendered, called as “reformists” vowed to stop selling and using illegal drugs.
This coincided the launching of the Anti-Drug Action on Reformation, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration Program known as “Dalan Ning Pamagbayu” (Road to Change) introduced by the provincial government at Bren Z. Guiao Sports Complex here.
Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda presented the program in which the reformists or enrollees will undergo a stage by stage program which includes identification program, treatment and rehabilitation, and after which, their reintegration to the community after they undergo rigorous treatment.
He also mentioned that the provincial government with the help of the provincial board allotted P10-million to be used for the whole program.
He also assured that the Central Luzon Drug Rehabilitation Center in Magalang town will be readily available for use in aid for the “Dalan Ning Pamagbayu”.
Governor Lilia Pineda urged the reformists to totally change their lifestyle and quit their addiction. She asked them to show their love and support for her by changing their lives and cooperate with the Philippine National Police to minimize, if not totally eradicate, illegal drugs.
The governor added that she does not want any Kapampangan to die because of the operations of the Philippine National Police. “If you embrace change, we will help you as part of your rehabilitation program, in addition with the livelihood program that will be offered to you,” she said.
Police Regional Office-3 Director Chief Superintendent Aaron Aquino warned the reformist in his speech that the PNP will not stop monitoring and operating against drug peddlers and users in the province. He also said that they won’t show mercy if the reformist even think of coming back to their old vices.
“With the help of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, instead of caliber .45, we might be using M-14 and M-16 rifles,” the police director said.
He also gave the standing order to the chiefs-of-police in all municipalities and cities to start their operations last Thursday.
The governor assured that no bloodshed will happen if all of the surrenderees will reform with the help of the program and hopefully after the reintegration program, will start life anew.
“I say to you, if all of you are true to your act of surrender, nobody will be killed here in Pampanga,” she added.
