CLARK FREEPORT – The Department of Health-Regional Office III lauded the provincial government of Pampanga headed by Governor Lilia G. Pineda for its outstanding blood programs during an awards ceremony held at the Holiday Inn here recently.
Governor Pineda was named as Most Supportive and Active Governor to Blood Service Program Implementation, while the province was recognized for its Best Practices and Innovation on Voluntary Blood Services Program Implementation and the Single Largest Mobile Blood Donation, recorded at 511 recruited and 363 successfully bled donors.
According to DOH-III Regional Director Dr. Leonita Gorgolon, the event dubbed, “Central Luzon’s 1st Recognition for Outstanding Blood Program Implementers and Stakeholders” aims to acknowledge and to show appreciation for the efforts exerted by the awardees in their respective blood programs.
“Thank you for going the extra mile in helping us keep the national blood necessities and developing efficient voluntary blood donation system in Central Luzon,” Gorgolon said.
Other awardees include mayors Leonora Wong of San Simon, Venancio Macapagal of San Luis and Edwin Santiago of the city of San Fernando as the most supportive and active local chief executives in the implementation of blood service programs.
“We are very proud for being recognized today and we will continue providing the support needed for our municipality’s blood program, as well as other pertinent programs for health,” Wong stated.
The Capitol, through its Provincial Blood Council chaired by Governor Pineda, regularly holds multiple bloodletting activities in a year since the council’s reconstitution in 2014.
According to Maria Katrina Zapanta, provincial blood coordinator and council secretariat, the PBC collected a total of 891 successfully screened blood units in the three bloodletting activities held last year.
