CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Governor Lilia Nanay Pineda over the week, spearheaded the distribution of P10,457,500 financial assistance to the 2,882 college students from the four districts of the province.
Out of the said total, 482 scholar beneficiaries (class valedictorians, salutatorians and first honorable mention) each received P10,000; while the 275 (4th-8th ranks and ALS passers) got P5,000 and the 1,785 (whose grades are 85% above) got their share of P2,500 each.
Capitol scholars expressed their gratitude to the governor and the board members led by Vice-governor Dennis Pineda who gave them the opportunity to fulfill their education and become the “future assets of the province”.
Governor Pineda, however, felt dissatisfied with the outcome of the data citing substantial disparity in number of those who received the annual financial assistance of P20,000 from those who received P10,000 and P5,000 respectively.
Thus, the governor reminded the students that the gratification they get from the educational program of the provincial government depends on their academic performance.
“I know that you are all good students but you need to push some more efforts in your studies, so that next time all of you will get the P20,000 and P10,000 assistance per year, the governor said.
Meantime, Lubao mayor Mylin Pineda Cayabyab, Board members Crisostomo Garbo and Cherry Manalo shared inspirational messages to the students, making them realize the importance of education and become productive citizens of the province.
“Nanay” also encouraged the scholars to support her administration’s other programs and help her track down all the out-of-school youth in the province and participate in the anti-illegal drug campaign by reporting the users and the suspected pushers through the use of calling cards given to them.
Furthermore, the public schools, universities and colleges who have memorandum of agreement with the provincial government include: Angeles University Foundation (AUF), Bulacan State University (BSU), Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU), Systems Plus College Foundation (SPCF) and University of Assumption (UA).
Should the scholars obtain failing grades or violate any school’s policies or have taken any disciplinary measures will be removed from the list of beneficiaries.
Also present in the event were 2nd district Board member Salvador Dimson, Jr., Porac Vice-mayor Dexter Albert A. David and ex-officio Board member Fritzie David Dizon.
