Pampanga quarry collections reach P1.59B

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government has generated a total of P1.59 billion from the quarry industry for the past 61 months since Governor Pineda took oath in office.

According to a report released by the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO), the collection came from the aggregated sum of the quarry collection-P1,476,525,000; weighing scale fees-P82,041,000; accreditation of motor vehicles-P25,569,756; and quarry sand and gravel fees-P4,142,622.79.

For the month of July alone, a total of P26,260,000 was collected. This was lower compared to the collection of the same month in 2014 but higher compared to the collection from 2010 to 2013.

Under the Local Government Code, revenue from quarry operations is shared by the provincial government, cities or towns, and barangays from where the sand was hauled at a 30-30-40 per centum ratio.

The administrative fee collected from the quarry truckers goes solely to the Provincial Government that uses the proceeds to monitor and regulate the industry.
