Gov creates Provincial Census Coordinating Board.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— Governor Lilia G. Pineda signed on April 17, 2015 an Executive Order No. 02-2015 creating a Provincial Census Coordinating Board (PCCB) that will facilitate the Philippine Statistics Authority in conducting its 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015) which starts on August.

The PCCB was created to ensure success in the inventory of the population in the entire Philippines.

In reference with Republic Act (R.A.) No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013 approved on September 12, 2013 states that the Philippine Statistic Authority shall prepare and conduct periodic censuses on population, housing, agriculture, fisheries, business, industry and other sectors of the economy.

Whereas, to ensure the successful conduct of the census, the citizenry must be called upon to support and cooperate in the POPCEN 2015 by providing complete and correct information to census enumerators.

The board meantime, shall compose of Chairperson (Prov. Governor), Vice-chairperson (Division Superintendent of Schools-DepEd), and members which consist of; DPWH District Engineer, Provincial Director of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Provincial Planning and Development Officer, Provincial Assessor, Provincial Agriculturist, Provincial Population Officer, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, Provincial Information Officer, Development Management Officer V-NCIP; Representatives from the following accredited organizations in the province: Pampanga Furniture Industries Foundation, Inc., Inocencio Magtoto Memorial Foundation, Inc., AWECA Foundation, Inc. and Executive Officer: Provincial Statistic Officer, Philippine Statistics Authority.

Some of the board’s functions include: Assess the needs of the PSA in the region in terms of facilities (transportation, communications, trainings and lodging), security, publicity and other logistics; Provide transportation facilities for the distribution/delivery of census materials and supplies and transmittal of census returns before, during and after the census operation among others.

Meanwhile, the provincial government supports the PSA in its endeavor and sees the need to adopt the measure that would lead to the successful implementation of the program in the province.
