Guv Declares War vs. Criminality in Pampanga

Pampanga Governor Lilia G. Pineda today ordered the immediate crackdown of all forms of criminality in the province even as she gave marching orders to concerned law enforcement authorities and stakeholders for its speedy dissolution.

This developed as the governor called for an emergency meeting among law enforcers at the provincial, municipal and barangay level in the wake of carnapping, killings and kidnapping reports which involve the province.

“Being in the heart of Central Luzon, Pampanga is on its way to full growth and development with the operations of the North Luzon Expressway and the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway and the eventual implementation of its provincial development plan. Thus, let us join forces and combat all hindering factors, especially all forms of criminality, which could hamper our road to progress.”

Last week, during the two-day seminar on barangay governance at Clark Freeport, the  governor also gave a marching order to all the 5,000 barangay elected officials in the province.

“Bantayan ninyong mabuti ang inyo-inyong mga barangay. Suriin kung sino ang mga dayong dumarating at kung ano ang mga negosyong itinatayo ng mga ito”, the governor told local officials during the seminar.

She stressed that the municipal and barangay officials play very important roles in monitoring and ensuring peace and order in their respective municipalities and villages.

“ We should strengthen partnership and maintain direct and regular communications between the barangay officials and local authorities to ensure peace and order,” the governor said.

She ordered the barangay officials to conduct an intensive survey and list down all transients and migrant workers, including their respective businesses, occupations and means of livelihood.

“Monitor ninyo ng 24 oras ang inyong mga barangay para masigurong hindi makapasok ang mga masasamang elemento  sa ating mga barangay at lalawigan.”

Aside from the barangay officials, the Governor also met with the municipal mayors, chiefs of the Philippine National Police (PNP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to map out effective strategies to curb criminality in the province at the soonest possible time.

Likewise, she instructed the PNP officials to step-up their patrolling and monitoring activities in the province and for the LTO to properly screen all vehicles for registration.

“Lahat tayo ay may mahalagang papel at dapat gawin natin ang ating tungkulin upang pangalagaan at mapanatili ang kapayapaan na ating ninanais sa ating lalawigan.”

She also enjoined the public to immediately report to the proper authorities suspicious elements and illegal activities in their communities.

“Kung may kahina-hinalang elementong pumasok sa inyong barangay, huwag kayong matakot na ipagbigay-alam sa mga awtoridad ang mga ito. Hindi po ito kaya lamang ng mga alkalde, barangay officials at kapulisan, kailangan po ang sama-samang pagkilos laban sa kriminalidad para sa kaayusan at kapayapaan” the Governor ended.  (Pampanga PIO)
