Pampanga culture goes global

CLARK FREEPORT — Pampanga has once again proven its rich culture as foreign delegates witness the celebration of the Arts month festival of the province.

The festival which was organized by the Arts, Culture and Tourism Office of Pampanga (ACTOP) aims to showcase the rich culture of the Kapampangan to the 900 delegation of the Kiwanis International-Asia Pacific.

“This activity was very timely as we recently celebrated our National Arts month. It served not only as a display of the local culture and talents but we also want to show through this activity how we, Kapampangans welcome visitors in our province,” said Arwin Lingat, Provincial Tourism officer.

The program started with the display of the City of San Fernando’s famous “Sampernando parul” or giant lanterns which sparkled much to the delight of the foreign delegates.

Governor Lilia Nanay Pineda then welcomed the delegation and expressed her deepest thanks as they were able to attend the said activity.

It was followed by the presentations and artistic performances of the Kapampangan artists who took center stage as they showcase their talents.

The famous Caragan dance which depicts the Aeta Ancestry of the city of Mabalacat was also performed by the Power Mabalacat City Center for the Arts.

Angeles City’s Sinukwan Kapampangan also performed folk, rural and ethnic dances of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Meanwhile guests expressed their delight as they were able to have a glimpse at the rich culture of the Filipinos especially the Kapampangans.
