CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— More than 300 blood bag units were collected during the bloodletting activity spearheaded by the provincial government through Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda this Thursday at Benigno Aquino Hall, Capitol Compound in this city.

The bloodletting activity with the battlecry ____________ was organized by the concerted efforts of the Provincial Blood Services and Advocacy Council (PBSAC), the Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Health Office (PHO), Philippine Red Cross (PRC), Pampanga Medical Specialist Hospital, Angeles University Foundation Medical Center, Amado Rodriguez District Hospital and Sacred Heart Medical Center.
Participants of the said activity were members of the Philipine National Police (PNP), Philipine Army and the residengts from the four districts of the province.

According to Dr. Marcelo Jaochico, head of the PHO, majority of the blood donors were female from the community.

Joachico added that there were a total of 358 who registered but only 305 of them were successfully bled.

“By donating blood, the life of a patient needing blood can be extended. It also rejuvenates the donor – the old blood is being replaced with new one,” Joachico said.

It was learned that patients who were not able to pass the screening and diagnosed with illnesses will receive medical assistance from the governor.

Angie Blanco, head of the PDRRMO said that the bloodletting activity is in line with the advocacy of the governor to provide clean and sufficient blood in the province.

Blanco added that bloods collected will be of great use to patients who are in need of blood.

The patients can coordinate with district hospitals and the provincial government to avail the free blood bags.
