Capitol expends P20M for basic social services

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government headed by Governor Lilia “Nanay” G. Pineda expended a total of P 20,362,417.39 for the delivery of various basic social services for the year 2014 according to a report submitted by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).

The report shows Capitol launched various programs, projects, and activities benefitting Kapampangans from various sectoral groups such as children and youth, persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, women, indigenous people (IPs), and family heads and other needy adults (FHONA).

 

A total of P1,558,696.50 was allotted for programs dedicated for children and youth welfare such as financial assistance to children in crisis situations; salary subsidy for day care workers; and educational assistance to children belonging to indigent families.

 

According to said report, Governor Pineda also approved various projects for the benefit of persons with disabilities amounting to P4,585,350 particularly, educational assistance for PWDs and their children as well as medical assistance for PWDs.

 

Aside from this, the Capitol spent P518,715 on several programs and activities for senior citizens of the province, in recognition of their contribution to the continuous growth of the province. Cash incentives were provided to the province’s centenarians; and burial assistance was provided for indigent senior citizens. The lady governor also led regular gatherings for the empowerment of women throughout the province.

 

Governor Pineda’s administration also prioritized the funding of projects intended for IPs worth P2,623,265.89 for the previous year alone. Educational assistance for high school and college Aeta students were distributed for 2014 and provision of food assistance in upland communities were also regularly held.

 

A total of P11,031,390 were allotted for various programs intended for more than seventy thousand FHONA beneficiaries particularly, emergency shelter assistance, medical assistance, livelihood grants, financial assistance for solo parents, cash for work projects for disadvantaged members of the community, and educational assistance, among others.
