CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government created the provincial emergency management and response unit (PEMRU) to respond to any form of emergencies especially during calamities.
PEMRU is the operation unit under the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management System (PDRMMS) in-charge of attending the medical need of the public in an emergency situation when disaster arises.
Dr. Marcelo Jaochico, provincial health officer (PHO) said PEMRU although under PDRIMMS will be supervised by his office.
The operation center will be at Ricardo P Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Bacolor and will be headed by Dr. Jay Rivera.
According to Jaochico, it will be manned by trained personnel who are competent in handling emergency cases, and executing first aid treatment and minor surgeries such as nurses and doctors.
He added that PEMRU will be the coordinating center for response during disasters and calamities.
PEMRU is also expected to monitor the situation on the observance of the Holy Week for possible health services to the public and flagellants.
