Pampanga Governor Lilia G. Pineda led the ribbon cutting ceremonies in Monday’s opening of the agro-industrial trade fair, one of the highlights of the on-going 439th founding anniversary of the province.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Assistant Secretary Angel Pelayo and Provincial Director Leonila T. Baluyut also joined the governor in the said ceremonies which signaled the start of the six-day holding of the agro-industrial trade fair at the Capitol’s Arnedo Park.
After the opening ceremonies, the governor together with the guests, provincial board members and department heads of the provincial government, toured the various stalls which feature native delicacies and products of various small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in various towns of the province.
At one stall, the governor tasted the delicious “duman”, to the delight of guests and visitors who attended the opening ceremonies of the trade fair.
Board Member Nestor Tolentino, chairman of this year’s agro-industrial fair, said that the event is a joint collaboration of the provincial government, DTI, Departments of Science and Technology (DOST), Interior and Local Government (DILG), Agriculture (DA), Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the Philippine National Police-Pampanga Provincial Office (PNP-PPO).
Tolentino also acknowledged the active participation of various SMES in the province which ensures the success of the said event.
He added that this year’s celebration focused on the theme “Lugud at Masabal: Pusu ning Tune Kapampangan”.
The Apung Monica de Minalin Multi-Purpose Cooperative with its processed meat products and mineral water; Sweets and Delicacies Association of Pampanga which include products of NeriMar’s, Lailen’s, Emy’s and Navarro’s; K Anne’s, Wow and Araro products and cookies’ Remzor’s organic products and delicacies; Minalin Poultry Cooperative’s fresh eggs, Edelyn’s peanuts and tilapia produce; and Betis meat products are among the participating SMES in the trade fair.
Other native products and produce on sale at the trade fair include the fruits and vegetables harvests of indigenous peoples and Candaba town; herbal oil and healthy nutritious products of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) beneficiaries; Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA); and fruit tree seedlings of Wilson Tree Bank.
