A bountiful Christmas for Pampanga provincial employees

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Governor Lilia “Nanay Baby” G. Pineda announced the granting of P40,000.00 Christmas bonus for each of the 2,051 permanent and casual employees of the provincial government.

This happened before the governor and Vice Governor Joseller “Yeng’ Guiao, members of the provincial board and the municipal mayors led by Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo formally unveiled the program of activities of the 439th Aldo Ning Kapampangan.

“Atin ku palang sabian, deng empleyado kapitolio tanggap lang tia P40,000.00. Atin tamung savings at makagiu la reti para ipamie ing bonus, para naman maging masagana ing Pasku da reng empleyadu,” the governor announced.

This pronouncement of the Governor was met with loud and long applause by the employees attending the flag ceremony, who were surprised and at the same time, gladdened by the announcement.

The effect of the announcement was such that while others jumped and shouted for joy, there were those who could not contain their emotions and cried with the unexpected announcement of the bounty that they would receive.

Milet Tecson of the Vice Governor’s Office exclaimed, “masayang masaya ing Pasku, thank you kang Governor, kang vice governor ampong karing provincial board!”

Another employee, an old timer, said that this is the first time in the history of the capitol that employees shall be given this big  amount for a Christmas bonus.

The prevailing sentiment is that “we shall be able to pay for advances and loans gotten previously and still have enough to celebrate an abundant Christmas with the family”.

The governor, obviously elated and touched by the employees’ reactions, assured them that the bonus will definitely be received before the Christmas break begins, if not earlier.

The announcement came after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved the granting of same for the regular and casual employees.

The bonus, called Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI), is in connection with the Administrative Order #3 signed by President Benigno S. Aquino III, with Section 4 allowing the granting of PEI “determined by the Sanggunian depending on the LGU financial capability”.

According to the Provincial Budget Office, the funds will come from savings from the general fund.

Eligible to receive the full P40,000.00 are those employees who have been in office for four months as of November 30, 2010.

Others would be receiving it on a pro-rated basis as follows: three months but less than four months in office shall receive 40% of the full amount; two months but less than three months, 30%; one month but less than two months, 20%; and less than one month, 10%. (Pampanga PIO)
