DSWD turns over P10-M to Capitol for permanent evacuation center

LUBAO—The Provincial Government of Pampanga turned over a P10-million from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the construction of a permanent evacuation facility in Magalang town.

Governor Lilia Pineda together with DSWD Regional Director Adelina Apostol signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the nitty-gritty of the proposed evacuation center in San Isidro, Magalang.

According to Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (PDRRMO) Angie Blanco, the evacuation center is just a start of the plans of the Capitol in addressing the perennial problems on disaster.

The permanent evacuation center shall serve as a refuge for the residents of the flood affected towns in the province during calamities such as flood.

Blanco also disclosed that the provincial government has already purchased a lot from the 5% calamity fund of the province.

Aside from the donation given by DSWD, the National Housing Authority also pledged help for the construction development of the facility.

During her speech, Pineda thanked the DSWD for its efforts concerning the safety and welfare of the Kapampangans.
